Drumming was real for our ancestors. I teach that it was the second art embarked upon by mankind, preceded only by the voice. Starting merely by clapping and clacking rocks together. Today drumming is a 1% meaning only 1 in 100 people will drum. The magic is in their touch. Lately, technology has been proving that drumming is good for your well-being. They go on to say that listening to drumming is as good for your health as actually drumming yourself. Drumming helps create harmony of the spirit as the singing story tellers accompanied by percussion really becomes music. I believe there is a future for drummers who study, perform, teach & build drums. And, an institution free education is possible with yourself, there is rhythm in your heart; there is rhythm in your breath.
For your first year you could listen and learn from everything in the cosmos, really read between every line. Journal your education. Try to watch live as often as possible. Recordings sometimes compress the audio content and it loses some of its ‘happy’ effect. Phenomenally ‘angry’ aspects compress just fine into mp3’s but there is no room for negativity with drumming. Pot can increase the frequency range that our brain perceives both on the low and high ends.
As you begin your second year polish down all your nuggets. Turn your notes into art and identify your favorite skills such as one of mine, ‘ear art.’
During your third year begin teaching all of youth what you ‘know.’ Facts and such that you can express with stories and prove with drills and exercises. Youth is ageless. You can recognize it by their faeries. Every kid has their faeries and as they too grow up their faeries become angels.
In your studies you should find yourself and take those chances to put 2 & 2 together. In doing this you can build yourself brighter and brighter as you return to stars.
When you can play six hours you can work for 6 hours. You have my permission.
After about five years you should incorporate to protect your investments. Offer artwork and music at cost and s&h or gifts until you find 100 followers.
Co-ops should be formed to bond members in the vicinity.
Pay attention to alignments that seem coincidental because like minded folks will recognize each other, this is your community.
Take care not to obsess by maintaining hobbies such as singing and dancing.
When you are in debt focus on printing money such as art prints and essays or even video performances. Focus on pollinating your peers such as spreading good word and inspiring collaborations. Also, Focus on colonizing and get yourself some turf.
My first experience realizing the potential of drumming was 13 years ago when my friend, Wade Longworth (R.I.P.) started playing his drum while I was struggling through dishes. With the music I was moved so that I finished the dishes in no time and it was all a breeze. From that experience I promised to do the dishes here on out as long as he played. By working with clusters (1/100) I believe we can get everyone moving.
